A new park in Prague Zizkov
There will be a new park around the reconstructed St. Roch´s Church in Zizkov, Prague on the Olsanske namesti (square).
The baroque church, which was built in reaction to the plague in 1680, was reconstructed last year. It served as a graveyard church originally and became a parish church in 1842. This cupola building was probably designed by the famous French architect Jean Baptiste Mathey and built by the constructor Hainric. The main neo-Renaissance altar was designed by Antonin Baum in 1879 and the oldest extant thing is the baroque tinny font from 1595.
The uncared-for park around the church defaced its surroundings. Now there will be new grass plots with artificial watering, shrubs and newly paved ways. The works should be finished till the end of the year 2006.
