River bank wall near Charles Bridge will be reconstructed
There are many river bank walls by Vltava River in Prague which are regularly reconstructed. One of them awaits its reconstruction this year. It will be the river bank wall at Knights of the Cross Square near Charles Bridge. Estimated costs are 12 million CZK.
The wall is 20 meter long and 11.8 meters high. It was built in 1847-48 and a careful observer can notice a stone sculpture depicting ‘Bradac Head’ which used to serve as a water level indicator.
The reconstruction of Charles Bridge has been postponed again. Even though the start was planned for March 2007, the Prague councilmen have not chosen the company that will be responsible for the reconstruction yet.
