Movie about US military base
A more than a year the authors of Cesky Sen (Czech dream) Vit Klusak and Filip Remunda have been shooting a document Cesky mir (Czech peace). The film depicts ‘Czech radar struggle’ and will be screened this spring.
The duo focus on specific Czech stupidity. If you haven’t seen the movie Cesky sen, it is simply about amount, at which consuming replaced religion in Czechs. They made a fictive hypermarket Cesky sen, with advertisements, with billboards, TV campaign. Thousands of people have gathered at the ceremonial opening, only to find out it was a hoax. Some wanted to kill them.
Another movie about Czech stupidity comes – because 75% of Czech population is against the American base. The USA saved us during the WWI, didn’t want anything. The USA saved us during the WWII, didn’t want anything. The USA saved us from the hell of communism under Russia, didn’t want anything. Now they want to prevent we get occupied again. FOR FREE. Czechs are stupid enough to be against it. Will the documentary mirror help the republic from retardation? No. But it is a great idea.
The authors are known for their sense of humor, so it will be a comedy. I am looking forward to it…

i am not trying to say, that the radar base is a bad thing but this blogpost is just way too misleading. how the hell did usa save us before communism? as far as i know, they didn’t help us fight the regime a single bit (one can argue about unofficial support for various resistance initiatives, but nothing remotely significant) so please clarify or stop writing nonsense, just because this blog is aimed primarilly at foreign tourists.
Ok, lets see…
On June 12, 1987, President Ronald Reagan spoke the people of West Berlin at the base of the Brandenburg Gate, near the Berlin wall. Due to the amplification system being used, the President’s words could also be heard on the Eastern (Communist-controlled) side of the wall. The address Reagan delivered that day is considered by many to have affirmed the beginning of the end of the Cold War and the fall of communism. On Nov. 9-11, 1989, the people of a free Berlin tore down that wall.
“General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!’”
So Regan was in fact the one who openly spoke that the situation is unbearable. Of course, he said that in the phase when the Soviet union couldn’t match American Military hardware – and Moscow knew it.
Without the USA winning the Cold war race in armament, and without Regan openly stating the situation must end, we would still speak Russian here, Europe leading countries have never ever took care about us in difficult situations. And to think we got freed simply by the Velvet Revolution is naive - just look how well communist states know to supress any revolt. I didn't put all this history into the article because i assumed this is a general knowledge.
